At the Bigfoot Trail Alliance, we pride ourselves in our flexibility. This trip was planned for upper Wooley Creek in the Marble Mountains but, alas, with the Shelly Fire starting days before the trip we shifted to the Pacific Crest Trail in the Russian Wilderness.

Our crew of 13 was joined by Shelby Wiester of the Klamath National Forest. They spent the week camping at the lovely Paynes Lake where hot days were enjoyed with early trailwork and late afternoon swimming. The crew removed over 80 logs from the PCT and cleared, brushed, and treaded about 5 miles of trail from the northern wilderness boundary to Statue Lake. Thanks to all involved!

Thank you so much. We hiked that section on June a week or so before the Shelly Fire started it was such a mess – took an hour+ to go a mile. Wow, it looks great now. Again many thanks.
