Each fall, after the California Conservation Corps backcountry season ends, a select group of outstanding corpsmembers volunteers for one final wilderness mission.
The CCC Collaborative brings these young trail professionals together to restore some of the most remote and spectacular sections of the Bigfoot Trail while continuing the conservation legacy that began with the original Civilian Conservation Corps.
This year, the crew will spend more than a week backpacking into the Siskiyou Wilderness to restore 22 miles of the historic Kelsey National Recreation Trail / South Kelsey National Recreation Trail. Clearing logs, rebuilding tread, and reclaiming this route will improve access to one of the wildest landscapes in California.
Your support helps provide transportation, food, equipment, and a modest stipend that makes this unique project possible.
The work completed this fall will also help position us for additional funding in 2027, allowing us to continue restoring this important section of the Bigfoot Trail.
