Summer 2016 Volunteer Updates

June 5, 2016 by Michael Kauffmann Leave a Comment

Snow in the high country is rapidly melting with the warm weather that has moved into the Klamath Mountains. So it is time to start the early stages of trail stewardship along the Bigfoot Trail. Below is a list of updates and plans that are forming for this work.

  1. June 12th we will be climbing Packers Peak in the Trinity Alps Wilderness to set up our first photo monitoring  plot for the Rose Foundation Climate Change Grant. We have funding to support 5 volunteers on this outing, including lunch and dinner that day. Please SIGN UP HERE if you can join us on this late notice.
  2. In late June, the CCC will be working along the South Kelsey Trail. We will not be assisting with this but are happy the work is beginning! Thanks to Clark Moore for organizing this.
  3. The Siskiyou Mountain Club did secure a RAC Grant to finish any work the CCC’s do not get to as well as work along the Boundary Trail in the Siskiyou Wilderness. Unfortunately, the funds will not be available until late summer. We will be joining them to help with this work, so stay tuned for timing on this.
  4. We are planning a hike into the Russian Wilderness with the Salmon River Restoration Council for late August or early September.
  5. More coming soon.
