Restoring the South Kelsey Trail

March 6, 2016 by Michael Kauffmann 3 Comments

We are currently working with land managers, locals from Del Norte County, and the Siskiyou Mountain Club to ensure that this 10 mile stretch of trail in Section 7 gets a little TLC in the summer of 2016. Check out the video from Sage Clegg that highlights the issues she encountered during her 2014 thru-hike.

    Thanks for the post!

When I did the trail in 2015 going the opposite direction (i.e., southbound from the Smith up toward Baldy), there was a CCC crew working on the first portion down by the river and it looked great, but the trail was still obscure the higher I went up the ridge and the chaparral toward the peak was still the toughest part of the whole BFT. Hoping to hook up with a trail crew to help out this year.

    Happy trails BFT supporters!!!

Maybe I can help this summer. Keep me posted on the plan and itinerary for work crews so I can try to sneak in a couple days from Klamath Falls. RC (Mossy Oak).

Thanks Ron! Please add you name to this list when you get a chance–it helps us to organize all potential volunteers. http://bfta.wpengine.com/support-the-trail/volunteer/
