2023 Tule Creek Trail

April 24, 2023 by Bigfoot Trail Alliance 1 Comment

In this first of its kind project along the Bigfoot Trail, we partnered with College of the Redwoods Forestry & Natural Resources and the Hayfork Watershed Research and Training Center to get some work done! Fifteen (15!) volunteers came together to make this happen. Dennis Houghton brought his Trails class from College of the Redwoods, Jack Lienhard from The Watershed Center brought together a team from Trinity County, and we cleared and treaded just under a mile of the Tule Creek trail near Plummer Lookout.

Most participants were beginning trail workers and this was the perfect occasion to settle in and build this skill set. We treaded trail, removed downed logs, and repaired motor bike damage. Saturday evening involved burgers around the campfire coupled with a college-career discussion lead by Dennis, Jack, Monique Rea from the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, and Amanda Barragar from Ascend Wilderness.

Let’s do it again next year!
