The Bigfoot trail leaves the Yolla Bolly’s and heads for the Trinity River, and stays well west of the divide to Junction city. While plotting routes on maps, I see it is more direct to go north to Stuart Gap, then by North Star Mountain, then Riewerts Ranch to road 302 to highway 3 east of Hayfork the road 331 to rejoin the Bigfoot Trail at the Hayfork Divide.
Are there reasons why the route went to the west? Rather than more direct route?
I am planning to visit the area in the next couple of weeks, I plan to scout the Bigfoot trail and surrounding areas, so am seeking info.
